Fishing has a long history and culture in China, and since the establishment of the China Fishing Association in 1983, fishing has been listed as one of the official sports in China. 1984, Guangzhou took the lead in setting up a municipal fishing association in the capital city of the province, actively promoting mass fishing activities.

Guangzhou Fishing Association aims to popularize and promote the sport of fishing and outdoor recreational activities, publish information and announcements on related activities, tournaments and fishing grounds, and popularize, teach and communicate the science of leisure and health.
