The "Sport Fishing" expansion course jointly organized by the School of Oceanography and Fisheries of Guangdong Ecological Engineering Vocational College and Guangzhou Jinhuadi Fishing Gear Property Management Co., Ltd. has finally started.
Affected by the epidemic, courses have been suspended for nearly two years. Classes officially resumed yesterday (September 14, 2022). The college invited Wu Xiaoyun, vice president of the Guangzhou Fishing Association, and Huang Kai, a national B-level fishing referee, senior fisherman and seafood company owner, to give the students the first lesson of the new semester: "Leisure Fishing, a New Stage for Young People" Students from 11 majors including software technology, digital media, intelligent control, refrigeration and air conditioning, industrial robot technology, environmental engineering technology, pet care and training, aquaculture, marine engineering, modern logistics management and navigation technology attended the lecture. Teacher Wu introduced the development status of the recreational fishing industry chain to the students. Teacher Huang shared the knowledge of lure fishing with the students and analyzed the employment and entrepreneurship opportunities that recreational fishing brings to the students.

Seeing that the students were so enthusiastic about the class, Chen Huaiding, deputy dean of the School of Oceanography and Fisheries, said that the next step will be to organize more recreational fishing courses to continue to cultivate more new forces to promote recreational fisheries in Guangdong Province.
The "Sports Fishing" course was launched in 2018. Under the guidance of the Guangdong Provincial Recreational Fisheries and Fishing Association, ten relevant experts, scholars, and senior fishing celebrities have been invited to teach students. In the 2022 academic year, the "Introduction to Fishing Skills and Lures" course will be offered to students, with class duration of 90 minutes per week. The "Recreational Fishing" expanded curriculum cooperation project will achieve in-depth docking between schools and enterprises and provide students with more opportunities to acquire skills and information about recreational fishing.
